Although root canals often conjure up images of discomfort, loud drills, and a patient clinging to the dental chair for dear life, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Root canals are very common and completely pain-free thanks to Dr. Zand’s ability to get your anesthesia just right. Root canals aren’t painful. In fact, going without one is certain to cause more pain than getting one.
What’s is it?
A root canal is a procedure designed to remove infection at the center of your tooth (in the pulp). We use it to treat teeth that have experienced a trauma, like being broken or cracked, as well as extensive cavities. This allows us to save the tooth instead of extracting it, clear any infection, and fill it with another material.
Did you know…
that while most infected teeth are easily identified by the symptoms they cause, some produce no discomfort at all? It is important to visit your dentist in Washington DC regularly for routine exams that may reveal diseased teeth that would otherwise go unnoticed. Failure to treat an infected tooth could result in the death of the tooth and total loss. Worse, the infection can spread to other areas of the body, causing potentially life-threatening conditions.
